Web Settings Tool

The Web Settings Tool lets you change the settings of the JINS ASSIST unit from a web browser (Chrome), without installing the auxiliary software. Settings are saved in the JINS ASSIST unit itself, so settings changed with the Web Settings Tool apply to any device you connect it to afterwards.

Choosing between the auxiliary software and the Web Settings Tool

On Windows 11 / macOS 14 or later, we continue to recommend the auxiliary software. Use the Web Settings Tool when you want to change settings on a device where the auxiliary software cannot be used, such as ChromeOS or Android, or on a PC where you cannot install the auxiliary software.

Notes

  • It also works with Microsoft Edge, but we do not recommend it because it is not included in our release testing.
  • It cannot be used with Safari or Firefox.
  • It cannot be used on iOS / iPadOS. Please change the settings from another device by following the steps in Information on Unofficially Supported OS.

How to Use

  1. Connect JINS ASSIST to your device.
  2. Open the Web Settings Tool in a supported browser (Chrome) and click Connect.
  3. A screen for choosing the device to connect appears. Select JINS ASSIST and connect.
  4. The firmware version is checked, and you are automatically taken to the settings screen for that version.
  5. Change the settings on the same screen as the auxiliary software. Changes are saved to the JINS ASSIST unit immediately.

When you disconnect, you return to the first connection screen.

The settings screen is displayed in Japanese only

The settings screen is the same as the auxiliary software, but it is always displayed in Japanese. Please use the Reference Manual (Main Screen (Settings Display)) as a guide to the items. For example, Advanced Settings is shown as 詳細設定, Load Preset as プリセットを読み込む, and Standard as 標準.

If "Could not get the firmware version" is displayed

Reconnect JINS ASSIST and click Connect again. If the message still appears, open the page for your firmware version from the links at the bottom of the screen (v3.x / v2.0.x / v1.2.x).

Firmware update

If the firmware does not match when you select the screen for a version, you can run a firmware update. You need to select the device when it restarts (this happens twice: restart → firmware update → restart). The update takes about one minute. Do not unplug JINS ASSIST or close the browser (Chrome) during the update.

Precautions

Caution!

  • It cannot be used at the same time as the auxiliary software. Before using the Web Settings Tool, quit the auxiliary software from the tray icon (closing the remote control window does not quit it).
  • Presets are saved in the browser (Chrome). They are not shared with the auxiliary software, other browsers, or other devices, so load a saved preset from the same browser (Chrome) where you saved it. Deleting the browsing data of the browser (Chrome) also deletes saved presets.
  • Running Initialize the auxiliary software (補助ソフトを初期化する) deletes the presets saved in the browser (Chrome). To restore the JINS ASSIST unit's settings to their initial state, load Standard (標準) from the presets.
  • Items that only take effect in the auxiliary software, such as Show selection assist pop-up, Use GPU, and Language, are also displayed. Changing them does not change how the Web Settings Tool looks or works.
